We are Hampton Road's first and ONLY Postural Restoration Certified Center and ALL of our therapists have unique training in this truly amazing science. Postural Restoration (PRI) is a progressive approach to physical medicine which incorporates osteopathic, biomechanical, neurological, respiratory, and orthopedic teachings to rebalance human posture and gait. This approach addresses underlying biomechanical adaptation patterns which often lead to symptoms of pain and dysfunction. With PRI, all mechanical influences on the body that restrict movement and contribute to improper joint and muscle position are considered, examined, and assessed. Learn more...
Graston Technique is an Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization tool known for its success in effectively treating all soft tissue conditions, whether they are chronic, acute or post surgical. Massage + Manual Therapy
We have had excessive training in various forms of osteopathic manual medicine, myofasical release, neurovascular + visceral release and other advanced education in bodywork and movement therapies. We pull techniques from teachings like Anatomy Trains, Rolfing, Postural Restoration, Neuromuscular Deep Tissue, Vacuum Therapy Cupping, Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology, and Aromatherapy to enhance your experience. We are known for the unique fascial releases which we do around the thoracic cage and ribs to restore mechanical ventilatory movement for respiration. Improving mechanical ventilation can reduce excessive muscle tension and indirectly restore spinal mechanics to eliminate pain for those having back, neck, hip, shoulder, and other pain areas (including headaches and TMJ).
Integrative Dry Needling is based off the work or Dr. Yun-tao Ma, PhD and is an important modality in modern day Physical Therapy. This kind of treatment is powerful in treating soft tissue dysfunction, musculoskeletal pain, neuromuscular injury/imbalance and can accelerate the process of returning a patient's body to a state of homeostasis. Dry Needling should not be be confused with acupuncture and a complete acupuncture treatment might yield a holistic benefit above and beyond our limited dry needling treatment.*The State of Virginia requires that dry needling be performed under the written referral and direction from a physician. If you would like dry needling incorporated into your treatment please be sure your doctor includes that in your referral for physical therapy.
